Staying Committed to Indigenous Education
The new year began with excitement as Grande Prairie Regional College signed an Indigenous Education Protocol to build on the college’s already strong commitment to Indigenous students and communities in northwestern Alberta.
This protocol outlines how the college will continue to embed Indigenous knowledge, culture and teachings throughout GPRC. Already, the college is the first institution in Canada with an on-campus Friendship Centre. With an Elder in residence, GPRC can insure the availability of traditional teachings and Indigenous culture, and with Indigenous programming continuing to grow, GPRC stays committed to its part in Canada’s Truth and Reconciliation Commission.
