GRANDE PRAIRIE – Grande Prairie Regional College (GPRC) is continuing to bring exciting opportunities to learners in our region with the news of their new partnership with the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT).
“This partnership is an important step in bringing valuable programs to our students,” says Susan Bansgrove, GPRC Vice President, Academics and Research. “We are excited to form and build on an already strong partnership and offer our learners more opportunities in future careers of their choice.”
GPRC is collaborating with SAIT to offer learners the opportunity to complete a four-year Bachelor of Business Administration Degree with a major in Accounting right here at home on the college’s Grande Prairie campus.
“SAIT is pleased to partner with GPRC to provide students in Grande Prairie with an innovative pathway to achieve a Bachelor of Business Administration degree, accounting major, through SAIT,” said Brad Donaldson, SAIT Vice President, Academic. “Working together, we will ensure students are career-ready when they graduate — equipped with the applied education experience, critical thinking skills, and industry relevant knowledge employers demand of future accountants.”
Mykel Lewsaw, a second year GPRC Business student who is looking to major in Accounting, says he is excited for the opportunity to earn a degree.
“This means I can stay here. I can stay close to my friends and family,” says Lewsaw. “Grande Prairie has become a home away from home now, and I am comfortable here. It’s nice knowing I don’t have to pick up and move again just to complete my degree.”
Lewsaw along with second year student, Alexis Nellis both agree that GPRC offers them a positive learning environment that they do not think they could get anywhere else.
“GPRC is so welcoming,” says Nellis. “I had no idea what I wanted to do with the rest of my life, so I talked to an Academic Advisor here, and they helped me onto the career path that I am on now. You are not just a number at GPRC, and I think that is special. Plus, I have a support system here with my family being close that has made my first year a lot easier to adjust.”
GPRC designs their business and office administration programs to equip students with the knowledge and skills required to succeed in a business or office setting.
