GRANDE PRAIRIE – Grande Prairie Regional College (GPRC) Alumni will be featured at the Art Gallery of Grande Prairie (AGGP) January 26 to March 11 in “Future Present,” an exhibition of artwork by past students, faculty and staff.
The exhibition celebrates the contributions of GPRC Alumni, staff and faculty to the visual arts community and highlight the careers and achievement of the College’s past students.
“The College has been a critical social and cultural fixture in our community, encouraging development and innovation in the Arts,” said Jeff Erbach, Executive Director of the Art Gallery of Grande Prairie. “This exhibition is a wonderful balance of important senior artists and a new wave of emerging talent.”
The concept for the art exhibition started during the College’s 50th anniversary celebrations in 2016-17. The show was curated by GPRC staff and faculty and features 15 artists and starts its six-week stay at AGGP with an opening reception Friday, January 26 at 7 p.m.
“We’re extremely proud of all the work done by the College’s Fine Arts department and we’re excited to showcase the accomplishments of our visual arts alumni with the Art Gallery of Grande Prairie. This is truly an exciting opportunity for the community to see what our students, staff and faculty accomplish,” said Susan Bansgrove, GPRC Vice-President Academics and Research.
Many of GPRC’s Visual Arts students continue their education and complete their Bachelor of Fine Arts and Master of Fine Arts degrees and others incorporate their GPRC visual arts education into their personal and professional lives.
“We’re proud to collaborate with the College on this exhibition and congratulate them on their first 50 years. They wear it well,” said Erbach.
