Randco Millwright Services Ltd. donation enhances training experience.
Northwestern Polytechnic’s Millwright Apprenticeship program recently received not one, but six powerful donations from Randco Millwright Services Ltd. The locally owned and operated company was excited to give back nearly $8,000.00 worth of equipment and services to the polytechnic responsible for training so many of its industry specialists.
“As an alumnus and employer of many graduates, I’ve always aimed to give back to the institute,” says Randco Millwright Services Ltd. Owner Bryan Faulkner. “I appreciate the amount of value this program holds in our region, and intend to continue my support.”
The six electric motors will be used as vital training aides within our Millwright Apprenticeship program. In addition to donating the equipment, Randco staff also took the time to ensure proper installation of the motors into the Millwright shop, where they will be accessed regularly by apprenticeship students.
“NWP’s Millwright Apprenticeship program is a high-demand program that delivers career ready professionals,” says Caitlin Hartigan, Dean for the School of Skilled Trades. “Our Millwright department strives to build strong partnerships with local Industry to ensure that our Apprentices receive an exemplary technical training education and successful careers within their trade.”
Northwestern Polytechnic’s Millwright Apprenticeship, also called Industrial Mechanic, consists of four 8-week classroom periods and three training periods on the job. The in-demand program can be completed in four years or less.
“We feel very fortunate to be surrounded by industry leaders who want to uplift the next generation of entrepreneurial professionals,” says Justin Kohlman, President and CEO. “Be it through an in-kind contribution, the gift of time, sharing expertise or financial support, our alumni and donors are leaving a meaningful imprint on campus.”
