NWP continues to add programs and broaden entrepreneurial career pathways.
The New Year is off to a great start at Northwestern Polytechnic (NWP) with three new Business programs in the pipeline and a formalized partnership agreement with Munster Technological University (MUT) in Ireland.
New Programming
NWP’s School of Business was recently approved for three new Business Administration Post-Diploma Certificates. These certificates are for students who have a post-secondary credential and are looking for career-focused education and experience. The specializations will be offered in Financial Planning, Human Resources Management, and Marketing and will commence Fall 2023.
“Successful businesses are integral to a thriving economy and we are proud to be training the next generation of business professionals,” says Dean of NWP’s School of Business, Dr. Carly McLeod. “These new qualifications will prepare students to work in a wide array of related occupations across industries.”
NWP business alumni have a proven track record of finding success quickly in the workforce. In fact, according to recent statistics, approximately 88 per cent of certificate graduates and 100 per cent of diploma graduates secure employment within two years of attending NWP.
International Collaboration
In January, Alberta’s newest polytechnic and Ireland’s Munster University of Technology inked a new articulation arrangement that will encourage international learning and grow connections. Graduates of NWP’s Business Administration Diploma program are now eligible for entry to Year 3 of MTU’s Bachelor of Business.
“We are so pleased to be able to incorporate another productive learning pathway into our ever-growing business portfolio,” says Provost and Vice-President Academic, Dr. Vanessa Sheane. “NWP is championing student success, and we are honoured to provide students with an opportunity to spread their roots around the globe.”
The MTU agreement extends beyond NWP’s School of Business. Graduates of NWP's Early Learning and Child Care Diploma may now apply to enter Year 3 of MTU’s Bachelor in Early Childhood Education and Care.
“It is truly fantastic to see the entrepreneurial energy on campus and in the region continuing to ramp up,“ says President and CEO, Justin Kohlman. “We are excited about our learning community’s progress to date and looking forward to working with our great partners and communities near and far in the coming years.”
Local Degrees
Along with the expanded Post-Diploma Options and new collaboration, NWP recently added a Bachelor of Business Administration degree as well as a four-year Bachelor of Computing Science. Both four-year programs can be completed in their entirety on campus and are now accepting applications for a Fall 2023 commencement date.
