We are looking for individuals with the following qualifications to excel as a Summer Research Assistant with Corteva Agriscience™

Required Qualifications:
• Enrolled in an Undergrad or Diploma in Agriculture, Biology, or related field
• Commitment to safety
• Willingness to learn and a high aptitude for precision
• Ability to complete tasks in a timely manner, at times unsupervised
• Physically able to efficiently perform tasks such as lifting, bending, and field walks
• Computer skills (MS excel)
• Self-motivated, enthusiastic, team player
• Ability to pay attention to detail and be accurate
• Ability to work outdoors and indoors and overtime in peak seasons
• Valid driver’s license with a good driving record
• Must be able to pass drug and criminal record checks.
Preferred Experience:
• Previous agriculture, field crop, or plot research experience
• Safe operation of field equipment (tractor, cultivator, rototiller, sprayer, etc.)
• Ability to safely operate trucks and haul trailers

****Seeds Production Development Summer Research Assistant****
May through August
This role would be an integral contributor with our team to execute successful field plots and produce high quality data. The successful candidate will assist with our canola breeding program, field plot maintenance and assessing agronomic and disease traits. It would be based out of the Seeds R&D Centre located at Ardrossan, AB and would include daily travel to field locations all over central Alberta.
Responsibilities:
• Seeding, cultivating, spraying, plot maintenance, and harvest
• Scouting and identifying agronomic issues relating to the canola crop; diseases, insects, weeds, environmental conditions
• Greenhouse work on canola breeding projects; planting, crossing, harvest, threshing
• Seed package filling, sorting, organization, and inventory
• Data collection, plot and disease rating, data organization and entry
• Equipment maintenance, repairs, and modifications
• Self-directed research project within the breeding program
• Accountable for safety and a self-directed safety initiative project
****Field Sciences Summer Research Assistant*****
May through August
This role will assist with the research, development, and evaluations of Corteva Agriscience™ crop protection products. As a research intern, you will have the opportunity to learn about the features, benefits, and characteristics of Corteva Agriscience™ products, and gain experience in safe and proper product application. The role is based out of Edmonton, with the majority of time spent at research sites located in the south Edmonton, Leduc, and Devon areas. Some travel to offsite locations within the province of Alberta is required.
Responsibilities:
• Agronomic research plot management including:
--Operation of research farm machinery
--Field trial setup
--Seeding
--Spraying
--Application of seed treatments and fertilizers
--Facilitating field tour activities
--Harvest
•Research Evaluations
--Data collection - weed, insect, disease, and crop response observations
--Record and analyze experimental test results
•Work with new technology in agronomy and precision phenotyping
