The AUPE GP group belongs to Local 071 Chapter 015 and includes approximately 132 members whose various core functions include administration, technical and maintenance duties at NWP’s Grande Prairie Campus.

Current Status

The bargaining committees for both NWP and AUPE (Grande Prairie Campus) met on February 23 and 24, 2026, to continue collective bargaining. The parties were able to make good progress. Several articles were signed off as agreed to by the parties. Additional meetings are tentatively set for March and April. NWP is happy with the progress the parties were able to make in this session. We look forward to continuing discussions towards a collective agreement.

Bargaining Progress

The bargaining committees for both NWP and AUPE met on September 18th and 19th to begin the bargaining process from the Grande Prairie campus general support services staff group. At the start of September 18th, the parties’ committees exchanged ingoing bargaining proposals. AUPE has tabled an ingoing bargaining proposal with a significant number of changes to the existing collective agreement. While NWP is happy to report that the committees were able to sign off on some articles during the two days of bargaining, we are unclear at this point about how long the bargaining process will take given the significant number of proposed changes that remain on the table. By agreement of both parties, bargaining will resume in January 2026.

NWP and AUPE GP intend to meet in the near term once AUPE GP has completed working through their proposal with membership.
