Description This course builds on the knowledge gained in ED3400. The study of the components necessary for effective literacy instruction is built on by approaching planning that is based on student needs. Preservice students will design long-range, unit, and lesson plans. They will examine how literacy assessments inform mastery and differentiation and to meet the needs of all students. In this course, students will look specifically at the needs and strengths of English as an Additional Language (EAL) students, Indigenous students, students performing below grade level, as well as students whose learning may be influenced by coming from lower socioeconomic backgrounds.
