Students examine the role of the administrator in Early Learning and Child Care Programs, including effective staff supervision, models and techniques for evaluating and motivating staff. Students will learn about funding available from all levels of government as well as service organizations in the private sector. The budgeting process advertising and marketing strategies will be explored.

This course is designed to provide students in Education who expect to work with adolescents (ages 11-17) with a working knowledge of important concepts and issues in Educational Psychology. Students will gain an understanding of how adolescents from diverse backgrounds develop and learn and how teachers provide appropriate learning opportunities to support academic, cognitive and moral development, culture and diversity, and psychological development.

This acute care practicum builds on the concepts and intentional clinical learning from NS2210 and NS2250. The focus is on integrating prior learning to move towards providing comprehensive patient and family centered care and socialization to the role of the nurse in an acute care setting.

The course provides opportunities for participants to integrate, consolidate, and expand concepts from previous learning to advance their professional nursing practice. Participants have the opportunity to consolidate learning and advance their clinical decision-making in a variety of acute care settings.

Students will develop proper anatomical and physiological terminology. Instruction of cellular biology and physiology will progress into an understanding of organization of cells into tissues, organs and body systems. A working knowledge of body systems will include basic components and functions. The inflammatory process and tissue response to disease or injury will be covered briefly. Students will receive hands-on instruction in necropsy procedures for small and large animal species. Proper collection, handling and submission of samples and transportation of dangerous goods is discussed or demonstrated.

This course integrates the knowledge gained in previous drawing courses with the students’ personal interests and individual approach. Students will be encouraged to relate drawing methodologies and techniques to their personal interests, practices and understanding of the medium as an expressive, conceptual and communication tool.

Building on previous accounting concepts and course work, students will examine the more complex issues involved with recording, reporting and disclosure in a variety of operating environments. Topics include investment in equity securities, business combinations and consolidations, foreign currency transactions and accounting for not-for-profit organizations including public sector reporting.

This course will involve students applying techniques in exercise testing and prescription for individuals/groups. Participants will be involved in integration seminars in the class and in practical experience at local fitness centres.

The relationship between management accounting, strategic management, planning, control and decision making is explored in this course. Topics include management control alternatives, financial responsibility centers, planning and budgeting, incentive systems, performance measures and their effects and uncontrollable factors. Corporate governance, control systems in non-profit organizations and management control related ethical issues are also examined.

This course integrates painting with more individual studio interests through open-ended projects. Students will be guided to explore contemporary and extended approaches to painting through experimentation with materials, processes, and concepts, recognizing that all choices communicate meaning and build content.

Qualitative, quantitative, and mixed-method research methodologies are examined with special attention paid to ethical concerns in research, validity and reliability, and critical assessment of research tools. Students will conduct primary and secondary research presenting their findings in a formal APA research paper.

This course will enable increased autonomy in subject matter, concepts, materials, and approaches in sculpture within a framework of options presented by the instructor. Students may work with a variety of sculpture materials, and/or hybrid sculptural practices.

This course will familiarize students with the use and application of computers in daily office activities. Students will study advanced-level concepts and functions of software to meet changing industry needs.
