Nursing Education and Health Studies
The Department of Nursing Education and Health Studies offers the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) Program in collaboration with our partner institution, the Practical Nurse Diploma, and Health Care Aide Certificate.
Graduates work in a variety of health care settings both locally and nationally. All programs include practical components where students are able to apply theory to practice.
Bachelor of Science in Nursing
Our institution offers the Collaborative Baccalaureate Nursing Program. Students obtain a four-year Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing (BScN) with all courses being completed on our campus.
In this program, the art and science of nursing is developed through a variety of methods. You will gain practical experiences in nursing laboratories, acute care, and community agencies in the region.
Health Care Aide Certificate
This program is now available on Fairview Campus starting WINTER 2023.
Health Care Aides are in extremely high demand and play an integral role within the health care system. This certificate program follows the Government of Alberta Health Care Aide Provincial Curriculum, preparing graduates for immediate entry into the workforce. There are a variety of settings in which Health Care Aides are needed, allowing for numerous opportunities to work in an environment of choice.

Possible Careers Include: Continuing care, home care, acute care hospitals, private family care, personal care, and group-home settings.
Practical Nurse Diploma
This program starts in the WINTER SEMESTER. For specific deadlines please refer to the 2022-23 Program Dates.
The Practical Nurse Diploma is a two-year program that prepares students to be a Licensed Practical Nurse upon graduation. Practical Nurse graduates will obtain the necessary skills and qualifications to provide basic health services and support for patients with severe medical conditions or functional limitations.
