Expand Your Options Academic upgrading at NWP helps you build the skills and credentials you need to move forward. Whether that means improving your grades for a post-secondary program, starting a new career path, or completing your high school equivalency, we've got you covered.With grade equivalents in Math, Sciences, Social Studies, and English courses, you can begin upgrading from a level you're comfortable with from anywhere with an internet connection. Online Ease Learn from wherever you are. Our online courses are taught by certified instructors and give you the flexibility to attend class, complete assignments, receive grades and write exams online. You’ll also have access to course readings and resources through our online learning platform, so there’s no need to purchase textbooks or course supplies. Need support? You can access academic support, library resources, and academic advising online, and your instructors are just an email away. Get Started Your first step is to apply to NWP. Depending on your goals, you can apply to Academic Upgrading, Open Studies, or another program that fits your plans. Only need upgrading? Apply to Academic Upgrading. Apply Flexible Registration Academic upgrading is designed to fit around your goals, schedule, and other commitments. Choose the courses you need and register for the start date that works best for you. Most courses are available with multiple start dates throughout the year, giving you the flexibility to begin when you’re ready. Once your application is approved, you can register for classes and build your timetable. Academic Upgrading students are NWP students. They register through NWP, pay NWP tuition, receive NWP transcripts, and access the full range of NWP supports and services. How would a student contact their instructor if they need help? Students can contact their instructor by email, during the instructor’s virtual office hours, or by requesting an online appointment. How quickly can a student complete an upgrading course? Students can progress through much of the coursework at their own pace. How quickly this can be done will vary depending on the course, the volume of coursework, the learning activities that the student needs to complete, and the time that they can allocate to their course progress. Will students be required to pay exam proctoring service fees? No. There are no additional exam proctoring fees. Course and final exams are completed online using software connected to the course. When would the student see the final grade? Final grades will be posted after the course end date. Even if a student finishes the coursework and assessments early, they will need to wait until the course has ended for final grades to be posted. If a student needs additional help, can they access academic support through NWP? Yes. Students can get support through the Academic Success Centre. We offer FREE math, science, writing, and language support to all NWP students, as well as digital design and academic strategy guidance through Microsoft Teams, email, phone calls, chat services, and workshops.
