The course builds upon the personal leadership foundations of NS2005. It explores the organization of healthcare systems, concepts of healthcare management and care delivery models. The course provides an overview of healthcare policy and the roles of the nurse in influencing health policy, and facilitating change within healthcare systems.

The course provides a hands on approach to evidence-informed nursing practice. This includes formulating clinical questions, systematic searching of electronic databases, reading, interpreting and critically appraising health research. Emphasis is on developing thinking and information literacy skills necessary to be an astute research consumer, and using evidence to inform clinical decision making.

This acute care practicum builds on the concepts and intentional clinical learning from NS2210 and NS2250. The focus is on integrating prior learning to move towards providing comprehensive patient and family centered care and socialization to the role of the nurse in an acute care setting.

The course covers theories, ethics and evidence-informed approaches to community health nursing including primary health care, population health, health maintenance and promotion, and disease and injury prevention. It includes exploration of concepts of community-based assessment, planning, intervention and evaluation with community-as-client. The practicum portion of the course includes a variety of community settings. Nursing practice will include health assessment and interventions for clients throughout the lifespan and care continuum.

The course provides opportunities for participants to integrate, consolidate, and expand concepts from previous learning to advance their professional nursing practice. Participants have the opportunity to consolidate learning and advance their clinical decision-making in a variety of acute care settings.

This course in mental health provides opportunities to acquire knowledge, skills, and attitudes to promote wellness, through safe, ethical nursing practice, in a variety of contexts. The focus will be mental well-being throughout the lifespan. Learning experiences will provide students an understanding of the mental health nursing process. Clinical hours listed are the total number of hours and will be offered over 6 weeks.

The course prepares learners with the knowledge and capabilities for working within complex interprofessional environments in health care. It focuses on six key interprofessional competencies (patient/client/family/community-centred care, interprofessional communication, role clarification, team functioning, interprofessional conflict resolution and collaborative leadership). The course culminates with the application of knowledge to authentic scenarios and demonstration of effective collaborative teamwork.

This introductory Indigenous Studies course is designed to introduce students to Indigenous worldviews and Indigenous Ways of Knowing through Indigenous teachings on the land. The course will emphasize learning and experiences away from campus and the representation of the diverse perspectives of Indigenous peoples in northwestern Alberta. Through learning experiences with Indigenous Elders, Knowledge Keepers, and Cultural Advisors, students will develop awareness of Indigenous Knowledge, culture, and ecological stewardship. Students are advised that some travel within the Grande Prairie region is required for this course.

This course is an introduction to office finance and provides students insights and a deeper understanding of the financial, administrative, and clerical services required for positions in public and private business offices.

This course provides opportunities to explore emerging technologies. Emphasis is placed on identifying, researching, and presenting current technological topics for class consideration and discussion. Upon completion, students will be able to understand the importance of keeping abreast of technological changes that affect the office professional.

This course provides an opportunity for the student to work in a supervised office environment and apply skills and knowledge learned in the program. A minimum of 135 hours of office practicum, over one semester, is required. Students will complete an orientation to office information systems prior to the practicum. Students will work full or part-time shifts in a professional office with an experienced office manager. The office manager will act as supervisor and the student will follow the supervisor's work rotation.

This course utilizes hands-on learning that provides students an authentic learning experience putting into practice the skills needed to succeed in an office environment. This course integrates a wide variety of skills and knowledge through practical work experiences in a simulated office environment. Teamwork as well as the use of technical and communication skills will be emphasized with a major group project for which class time is allotted.

The course examines strategic entrepreneurial management in the Canadian workplace. Topics include leadership, personalities, motivation, conflict, and decision-making models. The course will also investigate an introduction into entrepreneurialism and different methods of organizational strategy and social responsibility. Various topics are discussed in this course and divided into separate units: strategy, entrepreneurship, and management.

Utilizing yoga poses and principles, we will explore holistic perspectives, including body alignment, mind-body connection, body awareness, and breathing and apply these concepts to other fitness and lifestyle settings.

Algebra based course primarily for students in life, environmental, and medical sciences. It guides the student through two distinct types of motion: motion of matter (particles) and wave motion. Vectors, forces, bodies of equilibrium, review of kinematics and basic dynamics; conservation of momentum and energy; circular motion; vibrations; elastic waves in matter; sound; wave optics; black body radiation, photons; de Broglie waves. Examples relevant in environmental, life and medical sciences will be emphasized.
