Gasfitters repair and extend gas mains, install and repair pipes and fittings, install and service propane equipment and repair and service residential, commercial and industrial appliances. Gasfitter class A certification is required to work on appliances exceeding 400,000 BTU (British Thermal Units).

Get the Green Light for Registration

Before you apply to be an apprentice or register for classroom instruction, you must meet Apprenticeship and Industry Training eligibility and the following minimum education entrance requirements:

  • English 10-2
  • Math 10-3

OR

A pass mark in all five Canadian General Educational Development (GED) or Canadian Adult Education Credential (CAEC) tests

OR

Alberta Apprenticeship and Industry Training entrance exam
