Nine members of the faculty at Grande Prairie Regional College have been granted Adjunct Professor status at universities offering collaborative programs at GPRC. These appointments are the result of a rigorous analysis of qualifications, scholarly activity and a committee selection process by the granting institutions. Athabasca University (AU) has appointed the following: Dr. Duff Crerar, History Dr. Bruce Galenza, Psychology Dr. Connie Korpan, Psychology Dr. Jaroslav (Jerry) Petryshyn, History The collaborative degree completion opportunities at Grande Prairie Regional College offered through Athabasca University in which these adjunct professors teach include Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of General Studies, Bachelor of Science in Computing and Information Systems, Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Management. The University of Northern British Columbia (UNBC) has appointed the following: Dr. Bruce Galenza, Psychology Dr. Connie Korpan, Psychology Dr. Scott McAlpine, Political Science Dr. Laurie Nock, Anthropology Dr. Campbell Ross, Education and History Dr. Devinder Sekhon, Science Dr. Alan Segal, Sociology These adjunct professors will teach courses in the Master of Education program now offered at GPRC through UNBC. The focus of this degree is on educational leadership for school administrators and teacher leaders, and has expanded opportunities for 25 area teachers seeking advanced degrees. As an adjunct professor, designees are eligible to work with and supervise undergraduate and graduate students. The status also includes the opportunity and responsibility to conduct research, scholarly and creative activities, as well as contribute to curriculum development within the programs being taught. “This is a valuable and well-deserved recognition for our faculty,” says Don Gnatiuk, President and CEO of GPRC. “We are certainly proud of the highly qualified faculty at our College, and it is gratifying that these individuals are also recognized by these universities.” -30-
