This course is an introduction to the technical and conceptual aspects of digital design. Utilizing lectures, technical exercises, and creative projects, students will employ digital programs to process ideas and generate professionally designed digital outputs.

An interdisciplinary approach to understanding historical and contemporary experiences of Aboriginal women. Examines the ways in which Aboriginal women have resisted and been shaped by colonialism and other contemporary racialized gendered practices through an exploration of community, race, gender, sexuality, identity, representation, and activism. The course also considers the ways in which Indigenous knowledge shape alternative ways of conceptualizing and politicizing history, identity, place, self-determination, land rights, resources and wellbeing.

This course is an introduction to the theories, concepts and practicalities of acoustics. Students will gain an understanding of key concepts of acoustics in relation to music making and production through examples and creative assignments. They will learn about the fundamentals of sound, measurement, speech, musical instruments, how sound travels in environments, psychoacoustics and perception, studio design and the acoustic treatment of spaces.

This course is designed to provide students in Education who expect to work with adolescents (ages 11-17) with a working knowledge of important concepts and issues in Educational Psychology. Students will gain an understanding of how adolescents from diverse backgrounds develop and learn and how teachers provide appropriate learning opportunities to support academic, cognitive and moral development, culture and diversity, and psychological development.

This acute care practicum builds on the concepts and intentional clinical learning from NS2210 and NS2250. The focus is on integrating prior learning to move towards providing comprehensive patient and family centered care and socialization to the role of the nurse in an acute care setting.

The course provides opportunities for participants to integrate, consolidate, and expand concepts from previous learning to advance their professional nursing practice. Participants have the opportunity to consolidate learning and advance their clinical decision-making in a variety of acute care settings.

Students will develop proper anatomical and physiological terminology. Instruction of cellular biology and physiology will progress into an understanding of organization of cells into tissues, organs and body systems. A working knowledge of body systems will include basic components and functions. The inflammatory process and tissue response to disease or injury will be covered briefly. Students will receive hands-on instruction in necropsy procedures for small and large animal species. Proper collection, handling and submission of samples and transportation of dangerous goods is discussed or demonstrated.

This course builds on the knowledge gained in ED3700. A deeper understanding and application curriculum knowledge and instructional strategies in the secondary classroom will be developed. Innovative teaching and curriculum planning will be explored with a focus on the student’s chosen emphasis. Students will  explore real-life scenarios related to teaching in a secondary setting and propose solutions and strategies using professional judgement.

This course integrates the knowledge gained in previous drawing courses with the students’ personal interests and individual approach. Students will be encouraged to relate drawing methodologies and techniques to their personal interests, practices and understanding of the medium as an expressive, conceptual and communication tool.

Building on previous accounting concepts and course work, students will examine the more complex issues involved with recording, reporting and disclosure in a variety of operating environments. Topics include investment in equity securities, business combinations and consolidations, foreign currency transactions and accounting for not-for-profit organizations including public sector reporting.
