More About Nathan

Nate was born and raised in the Peace Country, earning his Electrician Red Seal endorsement from Fairview College and his Instrumentation & Controls Technician Red Seal endorsement from NAIT. Since working at Northwestern Polytechnic, Nate has achieved his Alberta Master Electrician designation.

Nate began working for NWP in the fall of 2018, teaching in both the Instrumentation and Electrical programs. Nate enjoys teaching skilled trades as it allows him to equip and prepare the next generation of tradespeople in northwestern Alberta.

Before working at NWP, Nate had a diverse career spanning residential, commercial and oilfield construction, water & wastewater treatment construction throughout Alberta and oilfield well servicing maintenance in Western Canada and Offshore in Eastern Canada.

In addition to his professional work experience, Nate has had the pleasure of being involved in working on and improving the Instrumentation ILM content. Since coming on board with NWP, Nate has embraced a growing research interest, particularly the role of small-scale automation in regard to the agricultural sector.

When Nate isn’t a trades instructor, he enjoys being outdoors, reading history books, growing vegetables, snowshoeing and raising his family with his lovely wife, Ashley.
