Dr. Jodi Peebles, who has been serving in the role in an interim capacity since earlier this year, will continue to lead permanently. “Dr. Peebles has an impressive teaching and leadership track record at Northwestern Polytechnic that stretches over the last 15 years,” said NWP President and CEO, Dr. Vanessa Sheane. “Along with a firm understanding of our polytechnic potential, she recognizes and appreciates the vital connections between post-secondary education and our communities, industries, and economy.” As Vice-President Academic and previously Dean for the School of Business, Dr. Peebles has been instrumental in securing new program pathways across the institution. Most recently, she launched a partnership between Northwestern Polytechnic and Fort Vermillion School Division (FVSD) to bridge education opportunities in the North. Holding a Doctorate of Education in Workplace and Adult Learning, and a Master of Business Administration, Dr. Peebles is optimally suited for academic leadership and strategic planning. The direction set by NWP’s Academic Division through the Master Academic Plan is integral to shaping applied learning and industry collaboration, and ensuring a meaningful and lasting impact for students, faculty, and the institution’s future. “The role of Vice-President Academic is an honour because it means advocating for academic integrity, equity, and student success,” said NWP Vice-President Academic, Dr. Peebles. “Not only are these values that I hold dearly, but they are also the foundation of a thriving learning community.” Dr. Peebles has been part of Northwestern Polytechnic since 2009 and is a respected scholar, researcher, and presenter with numerous accomplishments to her name. Before joining the institution’s executive leadership team in 2025, she held key governance roles, including Vice-Chair of the Research Ethics Board and Chair of the Grievance Committee. Dr. Peebles also contributes to the broader community as a current member of the Grande Prairie & District Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors.
