A 2017 graduate PWA, Anna van der Giessen enters her rookie season with the Wolves as a major contributor to the Wolves women’s cross country running team. She has been the number #2 Wolves runner in all three of the ACAC races she’s entered so far this season.
After running a bit of cross country in elementary and junior high school, van der Giessen chose to focus her athletic talents on basketball in high school. In the spring of 2017, PWA track coach Julian Camsell, a Wolves cross country alumnus, convinced her to come out and run the 1500m and 3000m. She qualified in both distances for last June’s ASAA High School Provincials and her journey to becoming a full-time distance runner was launched.
Van der Giessen is in her first year of the Nursing program. She was inspired to enter the Nursing field by her grandmother, who continues to work hospital shifts after 50 plus years in the profession.
