As a Parts Technician instructor at Northwestern Polytechnic, Ashley Swanson brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the classroom. Her passion for teaching is evident in the way she engages with her students, helping them to develop the skills and expertise they need to succeed in their careers.
Ashley's journey into the field began one summer when she was twelve years old. She spent a memorable summer, helping her aunt on weekends and putting away parts.
However, she soon realized that she wanted to do more than just help customers find the right parts and pieces. She wanted to understand how they worked and how to fix them when they broke. This led her to enroll in the Parts Technician program at NWP’s Fairview campus.
Since graduating from the Parts Technician program, Ashley has worked in a variety of industries, including agriculture, lawn and garden, and industrial. She has developed a deep understanding of the different components that make up complex machinery, and she is able to explain these systems to her students in a way that is easy to understand.
One of the biggest challenges that Ashley faces as a teacher is the diversity of her students. Some come to her with years of experience in the field, while others are just starting out. She takes it all in stride, explaining, “I am continuously adapting my teaching methods to suit the needs of each individual student.”
At the heart of Ashley's teaching philosophy is a belief that everyone can learn, regardless of their background or experience. She is passionate about helping her students develop the skills they need to succeed, and she is always willing to go the extra mile to help them achieve their goals.
For Ashley, teaching is not just a job, it is a calling. She is committed to helping her students become the best they can be, and she is constantly looking for new and innovative ways to engage them in the learning process.
