Athlete of the Week: Aidan Armitage
Wednesday, January 22nd, 2025

Until the first serve on Friday night in the Syncrude Sport and Wellness Centre, the Keyano Huskies had only dropped one game all season. By the end of the weekend, the Wolves had a winning streak after two upset victories (3-2, 3-2) of the fifth-ranked team in the country.
Setting the tone for two, five-game showdowns, Aidan Armitage orchestrated the defence with precision, recording a hefty 64 assists, 9 digs, 5 blocks, 3 kills, and 1 ace. The fourth-year setter earned Player of the Game honours after a stellar performance on Saturday afternoon and, in recognition of her efforts, was named the Wolves Athlete of the Week, presented by Rebel Fit Nutrition.
“Getting good results this weekend was crucial to keeping our playoff hopes alive.” said head coach Kelly McGuire. “You need your leaders to be big in big games and Aidan was awesome all weekend, especially when we needed it most.”
This pair of victories put the Wolves in fifth spot on the North Standings leaderboard with eight matches left in the season. Armitage and the Wolves face off against the Concordia Thunder in Edmonton this weekend. On Friday night, the women start at 6:00 pm, followed by the men at 8:00 pm. The doubleheader concludes on Saturday with the women's game at 1:00 pm and the men's at 3:00 pm. Fans can cheer on the Wolves from afar by streaming the games live on ACACtv.ca.
