News Archives: Wolves Announce Interim Head Coach for Men's Basketball

GRANDE PRAIRIE – GPRC Wolves Athletics welcomes Evan Lloyd as the Interim Head Coach for the Wolves Men’s Basketball Program for the 2017-18 Season. Lloyd begins his official duties July 1, 2017.
 
Current coach, Thomas Slifka, recently announced he was taking a year off from coaching for personal reasons.
 
Lloyd coached in the high school system for eight years, coached with the Wolves Basketball Club program for four years and has been the lead assistant coach with the Wolves Men’s Basketball team for the past three years. During his time with the Wolves Men’s Basketball Program, he has improved his skills, taken on increasing responsibilities, and become a valued asset to the program. As lead assistant coach he is responsible for video review, scouting reports, recruiting and leading practice sessions. 
 
Lloyd is currently working on the National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP) and will complete Level 2 certification this year. Coach Lloyd is enroled in the Bachelor of Education program at GPRC.
 
“This is something I have been working towards for a number of years. Having spent time with the team has given me insight into what it takes to be a head coach,” said Lloyd. “We have a strong program and a group of players who are dedicated and committed to success. I am anxious to get to work.”
 
The announcement of Lloyd as Interim Head Coach means the growth and development of the Wolves Men’s Basketball program will continue uninterrupted. The team will have consistent goals and objectives for the team in the coming year.
 
“We are very happy with Coach Lloyd moving into the Interim Head Coach role for the upcoming season. Evan has worked hard to improve himself and he put himself in a position to take the team on and continue its growth,” said Athletic Director, Francois Fournier.
