This practicum is an experiential mentorship centered on Indigenous curatorial methodologies, exhibition development, and professional practice within a gallery setting. Students collaborate with a curator, exhibiting artist, and gallery team to support the research, planning, layout, object handling, and installation of a contemporary exhibition. Through hands-on participation students gain foundational experience in exhibition design, institutional practices, and career pathways within the arts and cultural sector.
Requisites:
This course focuses on user and audience interactivity with digital interfaces. Through a combination of projects and lectures, students will gain an understanding of how to apply various research and assessment strategies to interactivity with users and audiences. Interactive Design involves research, prototypes and usability assessments as students consider how an audience and context relate to their design approaches.
This course combines the theory and practice from year 1 to engage with the broader ecosystem of project development. Digital Design III is a collaborative course that emphasizes professional communication and conceptual thinking. Students gain experience with the stages of design process in a studio environment, including research, ideation, as well as creative problem solving.
Introduction to the elements and principles of web design. Through a combination of lectures, practical and theoretical projects, students learn the fundamentals of web design. The course applies many of the principles of design and typography to web-based platforms.
The course examines the field of e-commerce and how it has changed the retail and business-to-business environments. Through a combination of theory and practical application, an understanding of e-commerce is developed. Knowledge of the essential business functions required, as well as the issues related to creating and managing an e-commerce business, is developed.
Understanding how to plan and establish successful classroom management techniques while ensuring student engagement is a crucial part of effective teaching at all grade levels. In this course, key aspects will be explored to equip pre-service teachers with strategies and skills to establish positive, structured, and supportive learning environments. Emphasis is placed on embedding classroom organization and management techniques into every lesson and regular routines. Through applied practice and reflection, students will develop multiple strategies conducive to smooth classroom functioning and optimal student engagement.
